Produce Associate (Part-Time) - Northern Cambria, PA

Position Overview:

The Produce Associate will work alongside the Produce Department Manager to ensure the availability of fresh and high-quality produce items. This position requires attention to detail, strong communication skills, and a passion for promoting healthy eating. The Produce Associate’s passion for food will drive the success of the produce department and enhance the overall customer experience.

Responsibilities:

  1. Product Handling: Receive, inspect, and store incoming produce shipments, ensuring freshness and quality.

  2. Stocking and Rotation: Display and arrange produce items on shelves or in refrigerated cases, rotating stock to maintain freshness and minimize waste.

  3. Customer Assistance: Greet and assist customers in selecting produce items, answering questions, and providing recommendations.

  4. Quality Control: Inspect produce items regularly, removing any damaged, spoiled, or expired products promptly.

  5. Cleaning and Sanitation: Maintain cleanliness and organization in the produce department, including cleaning display areas, shelves, and equipment.

  6. Inventory Management: Assist in monitoring inventory levels, notifying the Produce Department Manager of low stock items, and participating in inventory counts.

  7. Pricing and Labeling: Assist in pricing and labeling produce items accurately, ensuring compliance with pricing guidelines and food safety regulations.

  8. Collaboration: Work closely with the Produce Department Manager and other team members to ensure efficient operations, effective communication, and teamwork within the produce department.

  9. Health and Safety Compliance: Follow health and safety regulations, including proper produce handling, personal hygiene, and cleaning procedures.

  10. Additional Tasks: Perform other duties as assigned by the Produce Department Leader to support the overall operation of the produce department.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a produce or grocery store role is preferred but not required.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to handle produce items with care.

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

  • Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.

  • Ability to lift and carry produce items, including bending and reaching.

  • Flexibility to work in shifts, including early mornings, weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.
