Front-End Associate (Part-Time) - Northern Cambria, PA

Position Overview:

The Front-End Associate will assist the Front-End Department Leader in the daily operations of the front-end department, playing a vital role in providing excellent customer service and ensuring smooth front-end operations. The Front-End Associate’s responsibilities may include cashiering, bagging, stocking, cleaning, and working the customer service desk. This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a positive attitude. The Front-End Associate’s passion for food will drive the overall success of the store and enhance the customer experience.

Responsibilities:

  1. Cashiering:

  2. Efficiently process customer purchases, scan products, and handle cash or card transactions accurately.

  3. Greet customers warmly, assist with bagging groceries, and provide a friendly checkout experience.

  4. Ensure proper use of promotional offers, discounts, and loyalty programs.

  5. Bagging and Stocking:

  6. Bag groceries carefully to prevent damage to items and assist customers with loading bags into their vehicles if needed.

  7. Restock front-end merchandise, including shopping bags, receipt paper, and other supplies.

  8. Assist in restocking impulse items near checkout lanes.

  9. Cleaning and Maintenance:

  10. Keep checkout lanes, cashier stations, and surrounding areas clean and tidy.

  11. Empty trash bins regularly and maintain cleanliness of the front-end area.

  12. Wipe down and sanitize surfaces, such as conveyor belts and payment terminals.

  13. Customer Service Desk:

  14. Assist customers with inquiries, product returns, exchanges, and resolving any issues or complaints in a courteous manner.

  15. Process customer requests for price checks, rain checks, and other service-related inquiries.

  16. Manage customer service phone calls and redirect calls to the appropriate departments.

  17. Front-End Support:

  18. Collaborate with Front-End Manager and other associates to maintain smooth front-end operations.

  19. Provide backup support to cashiers during busy periods and ensure efficient queue management.

  20. Alert the Front-End Manager of any technical issues with the point-of-sale system or equipment.

  21. Health and Safety Compliance:

  22. Follow health and safety protocols, including wearing personal protective equipment as required.

  23. Comply with sanitation guidelines to maintain a safe and hygienic front-end environment.

  24. Customer Interaction:

  25. Interact with customers in a friendly and professional manner, assisting with general inquiries and providing a positive shopping experience.

  26. Handle customer feedback with empathy and escalate complex issues to the Front-End Department Leader.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in cashiering or front-end operations is preferred but not required.

  • Strong customer service and communication skills.

  • Ability to handle cash transactions accurately and efficiently.

  • Attention to detail and organization in bagging and restocking items.

  • Flexibility to work in shifts, including weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.

  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods, lift and carry moderate weights, and perform repetitive tasks.
